Happy Holidays 2023

A very merry Holiday season to you all!

The days are flying by, the Christmas songs are playing on the radio, and there are colored lights everywhere we look!

In the spirit of giving thanks at this special time, I extend a very heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you for being here today as writers, readers, as beautiful humans wherever life finds you. I’m grateful to get to share a bit of our writing and wellness path together!

Lately my writing and wellness path has been seeing lots of change as I recently started a new job and am still sorting out my new routines and what that all looks like. It’s been a good time to review my goals and systems! You may notice fewer posts and slower email responses as I readjust my schedules and routines. Have no fear, I’m still here! I plan to continue posting but my articles will be less frequent. Thanks for your understanding!

Bethany’s Best: A Few Of My Favorite Things

Each quarter I share a few of my favorite things with you all. Links are affiliate links but you can just search for the items yourself if you’d rather.

Really I just like sharing what I’ve been up to- I hope you enjoy! 🙂

Books:

Clue Book Series

I’ve been rereading these with my daughter and really enjoying them! What a fun blast from the past! Lots of clever dialog and puns, along with the mysteries to solve of course!

Something Close To Magic by Emma Mills

This was an enjoyable YA fantasy, filled with magic, adventure, and a rag tag crew who are each sorting out their own abilities and places in the world. Oh, and they need to save the kingdom too, of course!

Your Pal Fred by Michael Rex

This is the story of a friendly robot named Fred who just wants everyone to be kind and get along in the midst of a war-filled post-apocalyptic wasteland. With great art and a story to match, this was an excellent (and quick) read.

TBR pile:

Atomic Habits by James Clear

I’ve heard excellent things about this book and figure it’s probably a good pick as we start out the new year!

The Witches by Roald Dahl

My daughter really enjoyed this story and I’ve never read it! Both novel and graphic novel are now on my TBR pile and I hope to get to them soon!

Movie:

Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken

We watched this one as a family and I really enjoyed it! It’s a story of family and also of friends, as Ruby navigates learning she is a kraken and what that means for her relationships and her life as a whole. (It also makes me want to rewatch Luca, it had some of the same vibes!)

Game:

Junk Drawer

This is a deceptively simple game that is straightforward enough to pick up in a few minutes but contains enough variations you can enjoy the puzzle and challenge again and again! Fun for hanging out with family and friends over the holidays or anytime at all!

Recipes:

I’ve been all about the cozy and easy recipes lately!

We made this great (and fairly easy!) turkey soup after Thanksgiving and I’m looking forward for an excuse to make it again soon.

And my siblings got together and made homemade ramen which was so so good! Another relatively easy recipe that feels healthy and nurturing and YUMMY.

Happy cooking to you!
